Dr. Michael Schwekutsch has extensive work experience in the field of engineering, particularly in the areas of propulsion, HV (high-voltage), and battery systems. Dr. Michael currently holds the role of Senior Vice President of Engineering at Archer since November 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Apple as the Senior Director of Engineering in the SPG (Special Projects Group) from March 2019 to November 2021. From October 2017 to March 2019, they served as the Vice President of Engineering at Tesla, where they also held various other leadership positions, including VP of Engineering for Drive Systems & Vehicle NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) from June 2016 to October 2017 and the VP of Mechanical Powertrain from October 2015 to June 2016. Before joining Tesla, they were the Director of Global Advanced Drivetrain Engineering at BorgWarner Inc. from January 2014 to October 2015. Prior to that, they worked at GKN Driveline in multiple roles, including Head of Core Development eDrive Systems, Manager AWD & eDrive Systems, Manager Torque Management Devices and Advanced Engineering, and Supervisor of Advanced Engineering, from 2006 to 2013. Dr. Michael began their career at GETRAG FORD Transmissions in 2002, where they held positions such as System Engineer, Senior Engineer, and Component Engineer.
Dr. Michael Schwekutsch obtained an Engineer's Degree in Engineering from Ruhr University Bochum. Dr. Michael completed this degree from 1990 to 1996. Dr. Michael further pursued their education at the same university from 1996 to 2001 and earned another Engineer's Degree, but the field of study is not specified.
