Cathy Day

Cathy Day has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Cathy is currently working as an Independent Director at Aster Group UK since October 2020. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Partner at Health and Safety 2 Day Ltd since March 2015.

Cathy has also worked in the education sector, holding various roles at the University of Southampton and the University of Bath. At the University of Southampton, they served as the Executive Director of Risk, Safety & Resilience, leading the enterprise risk management framework and overseeing health & safety compliance. Cathy also served as the Director of Health, Safety & Risk during their tenure. At the University of Bath, Cathy held the position of Head of Health, Safety and Environment.

Additionally, they have experience in local government, having worked at Mendip District Council in various roles, including Senior Manager - Strategic Assets, Risk & Governance, Lead Transformation Portfolio/Programme Manager, and Street Scene Manager.

Cathy's early career includes roles in volunteer management, marketing, landscape design, and law enforcement at organizations such as Mendip Volunteer Bureau, Orchard Wells Ltd, HTV West, Center Parcs UK, Polliday Landscape Design, and Wiltshire Police.

Cathy Day's education history includes a Master's Degree in Integrated Environmental Management from the University of Bath, which they obtained from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed a Postgrad Advanced Professional Diploma in Management Studies from Bournemouth University in 2006. Cathy also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) Honours degree in Social Sciences with Social Policy and Geography from The Open University, which they received between 1997 and 2003. Additionally, they obtained a NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety from NEBOSH, completing it in 2009.

In terms of certifications, Cathy obtained the following: Fellow of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) in June 2021, Certified Member of the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) in February 2021, Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management in January 2020, Certified Member of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) in July 2017, MSP Practitioner (Managing Successful Programmes) from APM Group in 2010, and Chartered Fellow of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) in April 2009.
