Tianyang Zhang

Tianyang Zhang has a range of work experience in software engineering and research. Tianyang is currently working as a Software Engineer at Aven since November 2022. Previously, they worked at DoorDash as a Software Engineer from May 2021 to October 2022, where they focused on the payment platform and launched various payment methods.

Before that, Tianyang worked at Amazon as a Software Development Engineer (SDE) from February 2020 to May 2021. In this role, they were responsible for the backend service of Alexa Fitness and also worked on CI/CD, integration tests, and operations.

Prior to joining Amazon, they worked at Canoo as a Software Engineer, where they contributed to building a P2P EV charging app backed by Ethereum. Tianyang also worked at PredictEV as a Software Developer and Cofounder, where they played a key role in building a PoW blockchain platform for a social network.

Tianyang's earlier experiences include working as a Research Assistant at UCLA, where they developed a smart electric vehicle charging system, and as a Project Team Lead investigating economic values of EVs for American Honda Co. Tianyang also worked as a Research Intern at GEIRI North America, where they evaluated the value of battery swapping stations for electric vehicles and published their findings in an IEEE journal. Furthermore, they had research assistant roles at Brown University and an engineering internship at Ariston Thermo Group.

Tianyang Zhang earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA, from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Solid Mechanics at Brown University from 2012 to 2014. Tianyang also holds a Laurea degree in Automotive Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, which they obtained from 2008 to 2011. In 2009, they participated in the Pembroke-King's Programme at the University of Cambridge. Tianyang Zhang completed their secondary education at the Experimental High School Attached to Beijing Normal University from 2005 to 2008, although no specific degree or field of study was reported for this period.

In terms of additional certifications, Tianyang Zhang obtained the Triplebyte Certified Generalist Software Engineer certification from Triplebyte in January 2021.
