Lance Villaruel

Lance Villaruel has extensive experience in the finance and technology industries. Lance currently holds the position of Chief Data Officer at Baanx Group Ltd, where they oversee data governance, architecture, and engineering. Lance is responsible for implementing best practices such as DataOps, MLOps, Scaled Agile, and Well Architected Framework. Prior to their current role, Lance worked as a Deep Tech Consultant at Levidian, where they conducted in-depth analysis of global markets and designed new business models and digital platforms. Lance also served as a Blockchain Consultant at Nexus Embassy US and a Big Data Consultant at Big Data Block. Before transitioning into the tech industry, Lance worked as a Data Scientist at OptiRisk Systems, where they researched algorithmic trading and implemented proprietary models in banks and hedge funds. Lance also worked as a Streaming Analytics Consultant at TIBCO. Early in their career, Lance gained experience as a Financial Future and Options Broker at Refco, Inc., a Financial Derivatives Trader at First Continental and Bank BGZ BNP Paribas S.A., and an OTC Bond Trading Broker at Tullett Prebon.

Lance Villaruel has a diverse education history. Lance is currently pursuing the Oxford Digital Disruption and Platforms Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Prior to this, they completed an Industry Follow degree at UCL's Centre For Blockchain Technologies from 2018 to 2023. Lance also holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Data Science & Analytics from Brunel University London, which they obtained from 2015 to 2017.

In terms of undergraduate education, Lance has a pending degree in BA Anthropology and History from SOAS University of London. Lance also studied at the University of Birmingham, where they pursued a degree in BEng and Man (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacture and Management).
