Brian Keith Smith

Brian Keith Smith has worked in various roles in the technology industry since 2008. Brian Keith started as a research assistant for the Socially Intelligent Machines Laboratory. Brian Keith then moved on to a web developer role with Graphically Inclined Design, where they completed contracted projects for clients including the University of South Carolina. In 2011, they worked as an application developer at Nebo Agency where they managed the extension of a proprietary content management system for the publishing of large-scale websites and applications.

Brian went on to co-found Bractlet in 2012, where they served as the Chief Technology Officer until the company's dissolution in 2023. In 2013, they co-founded Groove, LLC, where they led the development of an award-winning iOS app.

Currently, Brian is the Vice President of Technology at Backpack, a company that uses technology to make the built world more efficient by harnessing a standard, open data model. Brian Keith is responsible for improving the company's analysis and collaboration with industry experts in distributed systems architecture and thermodynamic simulations. Brian Keith is passionate about hiring skilled professionals to help build the first true system of record for energy consumption in the built world.

Brian Keith Smith attended the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2011 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
