M. Anwar Ibrahim

M. Anwar Ibrahim has been the Chairman of the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) of Maybank Indonesia since March 20, 2003 and was reappointed several times, the last of which was re-appointed through the AGMS of Maybank Indonesia on March 30, 2020.

Currently he has concurrent positions as Chairman of DPS at PT OCBC NISP and Prudential Indonesia. He is active in the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) as a Member of the Fatwa Commission from 2000 to 2010. Has various teaching experiences in his career (1964-2016) including teaching at the Institute of Al-Quran Science, Jakarta for Islamic Studies, Syarief Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta and Trisakti University.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Islamic and Sharia Studies from the Raden Patah Islamic Institute, Palembang (1964), Master of Arts (1966-1969) and a Philosophy Doctorin the field of Fiqh and Comparative Usululfiqh from Al-Azhar University, Cairo (1974-1978). Apart from that, he has competence as a Sharia Capital Market Expert from the Indonesia Capital Market Institute and OJK (2016).
