Joanne Gartenberg has a diverse work experience in the field of psychiatry and mental health. Joanne started their career in 1985 with a private practice in psychiatry, where they worked as a Psychiatrist until 2011. In 2011, Joanne joined Bartlett Regional Hospital and held dual roles as a Psychiatrist and a Teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction until 2015. From 2015 to 2018, they served as the Medical Director at Community Psychiatric Clinic. Since 2018, Joanne has been working as the Behavioral Health Medical Director at Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Joanne Gartenberg completed their Bachelor of Science in Zoology at the University of Washington from 1973 to 1977. Joanne then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, also at the University of Washington, from 1977 to 1981. Following that, from 1981 to 1982, Joanne completed an internship at the University of Washington. Finally, from 1982 to 1985, they enrolled in the Psychiatry Residency Program at UC San Diego.
