Cian Smyth

Cian Smyth has had a diverse range of work experience. In 2018, they worked as a Student Athletic Therapist at Dublin City University, and in 2021 they also worked there as part of the DCU Elite Athlete Screening team. From 2019 to 2020, they worked as a Retail Assistant at Marks and Spencer. In 2020, they became an Athletic Therapist at Dunboyne GAA and joined ExWell Medical as an Athletic Therapist in 2021. Cian also worked as a Retail Assistant at Gala Retail Services in 2021. Cian joined Basketball Ireland in 2022 as the Head Athletic Therapist for the U16 Girls team and has previously worked with the U18 Women's National Team. Additionally, in 2022, they gained experience as an Athletic Therapist at Rochdale AFC, a professional football team. Cian also briefly worked with Hockey Ireland in 2021, specifically in the Irish U21 Women's Hockey Screening. Throughout their various roles, Cian has provided injury assessment and treatment, emergency care, soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation, and injury prevention strategies.

Cian Smyth completed their education in a chronological manner. Cian started their academic journey at Dublin City University in 2018 and completed their degree in Athletic Therapy and Training in 2022. During their time at Dublin City University, their field of study was focused on Athletic Training/Trainer.

Following their undergraduate degree, Cian continued their education at the Institute of Technology, Carlow in 2022. Cian pursued a Master of Science degree in Strength and Conditioning, completing it in 2023. The field of study for their master's degree is not specified.

Cian also obtained several additional certifications throughout their educational journey. Cian acquired the certifications in the following order:

1. Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy from Johnson McEvoy in March 2021.

2. Certified Athletic Therapist from Athletic Rehabilitation Therapy Ireland in June 2022.

3. Emergency and Cardiac First Response Certification from the Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council of Ireland in August 2022.

4. Dynamic Cupping Therapy from Elite Injury Care Education in November 2023.

5. IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) from Elite Injury Care Education in November 2023.
