In Biomedical Science Chih-Yun Lai

Senior Scientist at Bavarian Nordic

Chih-Yun Lai, PhD in Biomedical Science, has a diverse work experience in the field. Starting in 2002, Chih-Yun worked as a Graduate Assistant at National Taiwan University, where they focused on propelling new discoveries in dengue virus replication and inhibition. This involved creating recombinant adenoviruses to enable selective gene expression.

In 2009, Chih-Yun joined the University of Hawaii at Manoa as a Junior Researcher. They later became a Postdoctoral Fellow, investigating vaccine immunology through in vivo and in vitro experiments. Notably, Chih-Yun made significant research discoveries, such as providing the first in vivo evidence of the toll-like receptor 4 pathway's role in early immune responses to Ebola antigens.

Chih-Yun's next role was as a Senior Scientist at HD Biosciences- A WuXi AppTec Company, where they worked from January 2021 to July 2021.

From 2021 to 2022, Chih-Yun worked as a Scientist, Analytical Development, and subsequently as a Senior Scientist at Emergent BioSolutions. In these roles, they contributed to the development and analysis of scientific processes.

Currently, Chih-Yun holds the position of Senior Scientist at Bavarian Nordic, which they have been working since May 2023.

Chih-Yun Lai, PhD in Biomedical Science, began their educational journey in 1998 at National Taiwan University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Zoology in 2002. Chih-Yun continued their studies at the same institution and completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Microbiology and Immunology from 2003 to 2005. Seeking further specialization, Chih-Yun pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 2009 to 2014, focusing on Tropical Medicine, Microbiology, and Immunology.
