Thomas Hordijk has a diverse work experience history. Thomas began their career at Draagkracht as a Pallbearer, where they assisted funeral directors during funerals. In 2013, they founded Energie de Kempen, a company focused on energy, heating, and ecology solutions. Thomas was responsible for establishing partnerships and ensuring excellent after-service. In 2015, Thomas became the External Affairs Officer for SAM Studentenbelangen, the oldest student party at Tilburg University, representing student interests in the University Council. During the same period, they also served as a member of the Universiteitsraad, making strategic decisions on behalf of the students. In 2016, Thomas worked as a Talent Scout at Unilever, recruiting potential employees. In 2017, they interned at Microsoft in the Education Team, developing co-sell plans and creating business ideas in the education sector. Thomas then joined Tilburg University as a Student Assistant before joining ASML as a Business Planner/Forecaster and later as a Business Engineer, contributing to data-driven predictions and creating live data dashboard tools. Thomas then moved to ORMIT Nederland as a Data & Digital Management Trainee, focusing on personal leadership and developing management skills. Currently, they are working at BDO Nederland as a Lead Data Scientist, utilizing their expertise in data science, machine learning, and AI to develop data-driven solutions for the organization and clients.
Thomas Hordijk has a Master's degree in Data Science from Tilburg University which they obtained from 2017 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in International Business Administration from the same university from 2012 to 2016. In 2014 to 2015, they had an exchange semester at National Chengchi University in Taiwan, Taipei. Before their university education, Thomas attended Rythovius College Eersel from 2006 to 2012, where they studied Economy & Society. In addition to their formal education, Thomas has also obtained several certifications, including Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) from Scrum.org in 2020, EXCEL LEVEL 4 – Accelerate from Smartenup in 2018, Azure214x: Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft in 2017, and SDEN 1 Wijnvignet van de Wijnacademie from Stichting Dranken Examens en Normering (SDEN) also in 2017. Thomas has also completed a course titled "Influencing Positive Behavior Change" from Tilburg University.
