Mark Frankel

Mark Frankel has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mark is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Black Umbrellas, an enterprise development incubation organization focused on nurturing emerging businesses. Prior to this role, they were a Director at Combi Group (Pty) Ltd and also served as the Chief Financial Officer at Kombo King (Pty) Ltd, a black-owned industrial company. Mark has held leadership positions at various organizations, including Shanduka Black Umbrellas and Innovation Shack. Mark has also worked as a Finance Director at Master Currency (Pty) Ltd and a Finance Manager at Bank of New Zealand. Mark has an extensive background in finance and administration, having served as the Regional Finance and Systems Manager at Oxfam and the General Manager of Finance at Master Currency (Pty) Ltd.

Mark Frankel attended the University of Cape Town from 1984 to 1986, where they obtained a B.Comm degree in Commerce. In 1990, they studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy with a specialization in Accounting. Additionally, Mark Frankel holds certifications in Ninja Writing from Udemy, Social Enterprise: Business Doing Good from FutureLearn, and Innovation: The Key to Business Success from the University of Leeds. Mark is also a Certified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) through the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
