Sarah Koopmann is vice president of Human Resources for Boeing Global Services. This function provides employee support to the Commercial Services; U.S. Government Services; Specialty Products and Services; and International Government Services businesses and the Supply Chain; Digital and IT and Data Analytics; Training & Professional Services; and Engineering functions across Global Services. Koopmann is responsible for the development and implementation of the function’s strategy that drives the business plan’s competitiveness and growth through service/solution delivery in change management, talent planning, organization design, leadership development, training, workforce planning, employee relations, compensation, benefits and diversity initiatives. She also leads Production Training, which includes developing Boeing’s manufacturing, quality, and safety learning strategy and philosophy, and deploying these solutions across the Enterprise.
Prior to her current role, Koopmann served as vice president of Human Resources for four enterprise functions – Enterprise Services, Finance, Sustainability, and Human Resources Functional Excellence. She was responsible for driving business results through organization design, talent planning, change management, leadership development, and diversity initiatives for approximately 13,700 employees in 28 countries.
Formerly, Sarah was senior director of Human Resources for three of the four Boeing Global Services (BGS) businesses - Commercial Services, US Government Services, and International Government and Defense where she was responsible for driving competitiveness and growth through talent practices. She has held multiple HR leadership roles in BGS including HR leader for Training and Professional Services, and Global Business Transformation where she was responsible for four major subsidiary integrations and partnering with Corporate Development HR to streamline the new acquisition and joint venture process from due diligence to full integration. While in this role, Sarah took on a special assignment co-leading Change Management for Boeing’s 2nd Century HR Transformation preparing HR and the business for a new HR business model and the launch of Workday.
Prior to Boeing Global Services, Sarah was the HR Director for Talent Management and Organization Effectiveness for Boeing’s Engineering, Operations and Technology team led by Boeing’s Chief Technology officer. Her team impacted the health and diversity of the talent pipeline through succession, leadership development, and acceleration of high potentials. In a special assignment, Sarah led the coordination and preparation for the monthly talent reviews with Boeing’s CEO and his Executive Council and led the team who developed the strategy, tactics and change management for transforming the way Boeing manages performance.
As a senior HR manager in December of 2011, she led the Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) HR Strategy and Integration team. The team managed the Long Range People Plan, HR Service Delivery, and Organization Optimization. She also acted as the executive assistant to the Vice President of HR for BDS.
Prior to this role, Sarah held multiple HR Generalist roles including St. Louis site lead for New Employee Experience, mediating Alternate Dispute Resolutions, working Reasonable Accommodations, partnering with the BDS Global Strike business on executive compensation and succession, and partnering with the F/A-18 Program where she co-led a major re-organization.
Sarah joined Boeing in 2006 as an Employee Relations Specialist. She consulted management on culture and employee engagement, performed traditional labor relations roles, and acted as the company's Chief Spokesperson for the contract negotiations with the St. Louis firefighters.
Sarah has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Dayton and a Masters in Human Recourses and Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.
