Strategy Planning Lead at British Red Cross

Lindsay Dalton-Hopwood has extensive work experience in the non-profit sector. Lindsay started their career at the University of Strathclyde as an Overseas Development Assistant, where they focused on developing and maintaining an expertise database and assisting in international funding applications. Lindsay then moved to ActionAid, where they worked as a Trust and Major Donor Funding Officer, raising funds for international development projects and coordinating database development. Lindsay later joined the Scottish Museums Council as a Fundraising Manager, where they developed strategies and chaired special projects.

In 2000, Lindsay joined the British Red Cross as a Market Development Officer for Options for Independence, leading strategy development and branding initiatives. Lindsay later served as a Senior Scotland Fundraiser, significantly increasing funding and introducing new fundraising processes. Lindsay also worked as a Senior Philanthropy Officer, focusing on raising funds from philanthropic funders and developing procedures for synergy across departments.

From 2007 to 2016, Lindsay held the role of European Fundraising Manager at the British Red Cross, designing and implementing fundraising strategies and building organizational capacities in Europe. Lindsay then became a Senior Institutional Funding Manager, leading teams and managing various aspects of program and project management, including stakeholder liaison and reporting to donors.

Currently, Lindsay is the Strategy Planning Lead at the British Red Cross, where they provide strategic planning across key portfolios and advises senior leaders on decision-making and implementation. Lindsay supports teams in measuring performance, overcoming obstacles, and improving efficiency.

Lindsay Dalton-Hopwood obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA hons) degree in Economics and Marketing from the University of Strathclyde in 1992. In 2022, they attended Edinburgh College and earned a M.dip CMI QCF7 degree in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice. In terms of additional certifications, Lindsay obtained the "u.lab: leading from the emerging future" certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in December 2019 and the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) (IPMA Level D Certification) from the IPMA: International Project Management Association in 2017.
