Kristin Smith has worked in a variety of roles since 2007. Her first job was as a Planning Intern at the City of Oceanside in 2007. In 2012, they worked as a Semester Assistant for the University of Redlands' Study Abroad program. In 2013, they were an Operations Specialist for the Global Service Renewals Company, ServiceSource. In 2014, they became a Junior Web Developer and Project Manager for Denverdata Web, where they worked with HTML5, CSS3, and PHP to support senior staff in Drupal and WordPress theming and development. From 2015 to 2018, they were a Web Developer and Digital Liaison at the University of Denver's Division of Marketing & Communications. During this time, they co-founded a monthly interdepartmental summit of marketers and communicators to meet with digital staff to improve the campus' digital support environment. In 2018, they became an Automated Operations programmer for Valdez Corp International. In 2020, they began working at Campspot, where they have held the roles of Engineering Manager (DevOps), DevOps Services Team Lead, and DevOps Engineer.

Kristin Smith received their Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning and American Studies from the University of Redlands in 2010. Kristin also holds several certifications, including Professional Scrum Master I from Scrum.org (2021), HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate from HashiCorp (2021), AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) (2020), Google AdWords from Google (2016), Google Analytics from Google Partners (2015), and an edX Verified Certificate for Introduction to Linux.
