Giles Barker Bem

Giles Barker BEM has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Giles is currently working at Channel 4 as a Workplace Disability Lead, where they focus on promoting inclusivity in the workplace. Prior to this, they worked at BT as the Group Diversity & Inclusion Lead, where they developed and implemented strategic initiatives to enhance diversity and inclusion, with a particular focus on disability inclusion. Giles also worked at Transport for London, where they held multiple roles, including Accessibility and Inclusion Specialist, Transformation Lead, Portfolio Sponsor, and Portfolio and Business Management. During their time at TfL, they played a significant role in developing diversity and inclusion strategies, conducting workplace adjustment reviews, and managing equality impact assessments. Before TfL, Giles worked at Decipher Media Consultancy as a Consultant and Operations Manager, where they played a pivotal role in designing and building a revolutionary media research center. Giles also worked at Visual Communications Group, Inc./Signsearch as a New Media Analyst and at Financial Times as a Digital Development Manager. Throughout their career, Giles has demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in various industries.

Giles Barker BEM holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Communication Engineering from the University of Plymouth, which they obtained from 1987 to 1992. Giles also earned a Master of Arts degree in Media Technology Administration from the University of the Arts London from 2000 to 2001. Additionally, Giles has obtained various certifications including Management of Value - Practitioner, PRINCE2, and Managing Successful Programmes - Advanced Practitioner from APMG International in 2012, 2011, and 2007 respectively.
