Wendy Cheung

Senior Solutions Engineer at ChargeNet Stations

Wendy Cheung has been working in the energy engineering sector since 2011. Wendy began their career as a Private Tutor, tutoring students in AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, and Pre-Calculus. In 2013, they were an Undergraduate Student Intern at the Energy and Sustainability Program for the County of San Diego, where they collaborated with Program managers in initializing and planning energy efficiency projects, including energy auditing, building retro-commissioning, and building retrofits. Wendy also led a team of three in analyzing the feasibility of achieving Zero Net Energy Performance at a new county's facilities utilizing Whole Building Energy model software, eQuest. In 2014, they were a Reader and Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of California, San Diego. As a Reader, they graded midterms and finals for 130 students in the Introduction to the Energy Systems class. As a Research Assistant, they assisted a Ph.D. student with power modeling of the UCSD grid system utilizing modeling software OpenDSS and performed data consolidation for all power transmission components on campus. In 2015, they were a Science Undergraduate Laboratory Intern at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, where they developed a home energy management system through Matlab code and modeling to achieve 10% energy savings from demand response measures while meeting comfort requirements. Wendy also analyzed the impacts of wind forecast improvement on power system operation for the entire western U.S. using data from grid modeling software (PLEXOS), quantified uncertainties in solar forecasts using statistical computing languages, and performed sensitivity analysis to study the error propagation in solar forecasts. In 2016, they became an Energy Engineer at Trane. Most recently, in 2022, they became a Senior Solutions Engineer at ChargeNet Stations.

Wendy Cheung attended UC San Diego from 2010 to 2014, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering & Urban Studies and Planning.
