Cara Pickett

Cara Pickett, PhD, has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of content design, UX writing, content strategy, and project management. From July 2023 to the present, they have been working as a Content Designer at Checkr, Inc. Prior to this, starting in January 2020, Cara provided UX writing and content strategy consulting on a freelance basis. From July 2019 to June 2023, they served as the Administrative Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at Xavier University. Before that, from June 2014 to December 2018, Cara worked as the Assistant Director of the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards at the University of Cincinnati, where they developed UX roadmaps and led content strategies for external fellowships. From February 2011 to May 2014, they worked as a Project Manager at the Associated Colleges of the Midwest, managing grant-funded programs and overseeing content strategy and design. Additionally, from October 2009 to February 2011, Cara was the Grants Manager and Director of Special Projects at the Chicago Cultural Alliance, where they led the development of grant-funded programming, content strategy, and content design for a consortium of cultural organizations. Before that, from December 2008 to February 2009, they worked as a Researcher and Content Strategist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Lastly, from September 2004 to May 2007, Cara worked at Yale University as a Course Instructor and Teaching Assistant.

Cara Pickett, PhD, has a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance from Lawrence University. Cara later pursued their PhD in Music History at Yale University. No specific start or end year was provided for either degree.
