Program Manager Of Student Research Experiences at Chicago Botanic Garden

Sarah Jones has a diverse range of work experience in various organizations. Sarah is currently the Budburst Education Manager at the Chicago Botanic Garden, a position they have held since May 2020. Prior to this, Sarah worked as a Content Curator for Project Biodiversify starting in August 2017.

Sarah's longest tenure was at Michigan State University, where they held multiple roles. From August 2010 to November 2019, they worked as a Graduate Student Researcher, conducting behavioral and physiological data collection on spotted hyenas in Kenya. Sarah also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant from August 2015 to December 2018, and as an Inside Teaching MSU Fellow from January 2016 to September 2016. Additionally, Sarah was an Instructor for the Behavioral Ecology of African Mammals study abroad course, co-instructing in 2014 and leading the course in 2015. Sarah was responsible for course planning, student recruitment and preparation, and delivering lectures and activities.

In 2013, Sarah was a National Science Foundation GK-12 Fellow at the Kellogg Biological Station, Michigan State University. In this role, they developed lesson plans and conducted teacher workshops for K-12 science classrooms, as well as worked directly with high school students to enhance their science skills. Sarah also collaborated with teachers to improve science curriculum through the integration of recent scientific research.

Sarah's earlier experiences include working as an Exhibit Developer at the MSU Museum in 2011, and as a Weekend Captain at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences from December 2009 to June 2010. Sarah also served as a Living Conservatory Intern at the same museum from May 2007 to August 2007.

Overall, Sarah Jones possesses extensive experience in education, research, curriculum development, and exhibit development, with a strong focus on biodiversity and behavioral ecology.

Sarah Jones completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from North Carolina State University, which they attended from 2006 to 2010. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Michigan State University, where they studied from 2011 to 2019.
