Andy Lancaster has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Andy started their career as a Training Systems Developer at Autodesk, a world leader in design software. Andy then worked as a consultant at various companies such as the British Broadcasting Corporation and Autodesk Ltd.

In 1992, Andy became the Head of Training at Kingsnet International, where they were responsible for training provision for various UK and international charities. During their time there, they developed an accredited leadership program and ran training conferences for international partners.

From 1995 to 1998, Andy worked as a consultant at LEGOLAND Windsor, and from 1998 to 2003, they held various roles at Phoenix Futures, a leading UK provider of substance misuse rehabilitation. Andy started as a Learning and Development Manager and eventually became the Head of Learning and Development and Head of Human Resources.

In 2009, Andy joined Hanover Housing Group as a Learning and Development Manager. Andy managed a team of professionals and was responsible for the full learning cycle, including needs analysis, design, delivery, procurement, and evaluation. Andy implemented organizational e-learning and gained various accreditations and awards for their training programs.

Throughout their career, Andy has also been involved in voluntary positions. Andy served as a Director at The east to west Trust, providing strategic direction and support for the organization's development. At The Leprosy Mission England and Wales, they held the roles of Board Member and Director, as well as Chair of the Board, supporting the organization's mission of empowering and transforming the lives of leprosy patients.

In 2014, Andy joined the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) as the Head of Training, where they led the development of learning solutions for the "people profession" globally. Andy then became the Head of Learning and Development Content, overseeing the creation of content, products, and services for CIPD. In 2019, they were appointed as the Head of Learning, responsible for developing CIPD's learning and professional development strategy and leading a team of professionals.

Andy Lancaster completed their education at Brunel University London. From 1981 to 1985, they earned a Bachelor of Technology with a focus on Design and Education. During the same period, they also obtained a Certificate of Education, granting him full teaching status in the field of Education. Andy continued their studies at Brunel University London from 1985 to 1987, earning a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in the design of instructional materials. Prior to their time at Brunel University, Andy attended Thorpe Grammar School from 1974 to 1981. In addition to their formal education, Andy has obtained various certifications and accolades throughout their career, including being recognized as the top influencer in EdTech in 2018 and receiving the Business Book of the Year runner-up and highly commended award in the Management and HR category in 2020. Andy has also obtained certifications in organizational design and development and various management and leadership disciplines.
