Sélim Louafi

Deputy Director For Research And Strategy at CIRAD

Sélim Louafi has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Sélim'smost recent position is as the Deputy Director for Research and Strategy at CIRAD since June 2022. Prior to this, they worked at CIRAD as a Senior Research Fellow from August 2010 to May 2022. In 2020, they served as the Deputy Assistant Director at Cirad - AGAP Institute from July 2020 to June 2022. From 2014 to 2016, they were a Marie Curie Fellow at the Center for Science, Technology and Environmental Policy Studies. Sélim also worked as a Scientific advisor to the Ambassador of France to the Rome-based United Nations Organizations on Global Food and Agriculture issues at the French UN Permanent Representation from November 2009 to July 2010. Before that, they served as a Senior Treaty Officer at the Secretariat of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture from September 2007 to November 2009. Sélim also worked as a Program Manager - Biodiversity at Institut du Développement Durable et from January 2002 to August 2007. Sélim began their career as a Post-Doc at the Center of Philosophy of Law from January 2000 to January 2001 and as a Research Fellow at the National Institute of Agronomic Research from January 1996 to January 2000.

Sélim Louafi earned an Engineering Degree in Agronomy from Montpellier in 1996. Sélim then went on to obtain a Ph.D in Agricultural Economy from L'Institut Agro Montpellier, specializing in Agricultural Economy, between 1996 and 2000.
