David Brown

David Brown has a diverse and extensive work experience. David is currently the Director of Portfolio and Governance at Citizens Advice, where they are responsible for creating teams, planning performance and risk frameworks, and reviewing and improving operational efficiency. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Adviser (interim) at the London Borough Of Hackney Council, where they provided guidance and support. David also served as the Director of Finance and Provider Market Oversight at the Education and Skills Funding Agency, leading a team to ensure proper allocation of funding and compliance with financial regulations. David has also held positions such as Chief Programmes Officer at Nesta, where they oversaw the delivery of various initiatives, and various roles at the Department for Education, including HMG Covid Response, Director of Operations, Director of Analysis, and Head of the Delivery Unit. Additionally, they served as the NHS Test & Trace Deputy Managing Director, Covid-19 App at NHSX, where they played a crucial role in the development and implementation of the contact tracing app. David's prior experience also includes working as a Peter Martin Fellow at the Financial Times, a Freelance Consultant providing strategic policy advice, and a Team Leader at the Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI). David also briefly served as a Senior Adviser at the Department for International Development/Government of Nigeria.

David Brown completed their Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in Economics, Politics, and Social Sciences from the University of Cambridge from 1996 to 1999. Later, they pursued a Master of Science degree in European Political Economy at The London School of Economics and Political Science from 2000 to 2001. Finally, they completed an Executive Masters in Public Policy at The London School of Economics and Political Science from 2017 to 2018.
