Jeffrey M Johnson

Jeffrey M Johnson has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Information Technology (IT). Jeffrey M started their career in 2001 as a Lab Instructor at Georgia State University before interning as a GIS Technician at the Atlanta Regional Commission in 2003. Jeffrey M then moved on to work as a GIS Technical Lead and Project Manager at Corporate Environmental Risk Management from 2004 to 2006.

In 2006, Jeffrey joined the City of Atlanta as a GIS Analyst in the Watershed Management department, where they supervised a team of GIS Technicians supporting various water quality improvement initiatives. Jeffrey M also participated in the Rising Stars Executive Development Program in 2010 to enhance their leadership skills within city government.

From 2011 to 2014, Jeffrey worked as a Consultant at Software Paradigms International, primarily supporting the Georgia Department of Transportation as an Enterprise GIS Data Manager. Jeffrey M provided spatial database administration, training, and data support to over 100 desktop users.

Returning to the City of Atlanta in 2015, Jeffrey took on various roles including IT Engineering, Architecture, and GIS Coordinator, Director of GIS Information Technology, and their current position as the Director of Information Technology. In these roles, they have overseen multiple technical teams, promoted the use of GIS in software systems, guided GIS sections, and played a crucial role in Atlanta's smart city initiatives.

Jeffrey M Johnson, GISC, ITIL, holds a Master's degree in Geography which they obtained from Georgia State University in 2012. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Geography from the same university in 2002. In addition to their academic achievements, Jeffrey also has several certifications including the ITIL® Certificate in IT Service Management from AXELOS Global Best Practice in 2015, the GISP: GIS Professional certification from the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) in 2014, and the GISC: Professional Certificate in Geographic Information Science from Georgia State University in 2005.
