Ursula Taylor, SHRM-SCP has a comprehensive work experience spanning over three decades. Ursula has held various leadership and managerial roles in HR departments of different organizations. Starting in 1990, they served as a Human Resources Administrator at Faygo Beverages, Inc. Later, they worked as a Human Resources Specialist at Invetech/Detroit Ball Bearing from 1995 to 1997. Ursula then joined Bon Secours Hospital as a Human Resources Analyst for a brief period in 1998.

In the same year, they transitioned to the City of Detroit's Human Resources Department, where they began their long tenure as a Human Resources Manager. Their responsibilities included advising and consulting on HR functions for over two thousand employees, assisting service departments with recruitment and selection processes, and interpreting contracts for seventeen unions. In 2005, they became the Planning Manager in the City of Detroit's Department of Human Services, handling workforce planning and staffing allocations.

In 2009, Ursula was promoted to the role of General Manager in the City of Detroit, where they continued their HR leadership. From 2011 to 2013, they served as the Interim Human Services Director in the City of Detroit's Department of Human Services. During this time, they embarked on their first Toastmasters experience and became the President of City of Detroit Toastmasters in 2017.

In 2013, Ursula joined the City of Detroit as the General Manager responsible for Human Resources Payroll. However, a year later, they were promoted to the position of Deputy Director of Human Resources, where they provided vision, leadership, and direction for over 9000 employees, 25 city departments, and 48 labor unions. Ursula implemented lean methodology to streamline recruitment and onboarding processes and restructured the HR department to align with the city's organizational transformation efforts.

Throughout their career, Ursula demonstrated skills in strategic planning, leadership, process improvement, and employee relations. Ursula holds a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification, indicating their expertise in HR management.

Ursula Taylor, SHRM-SCP, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Human Resources Management from Eastern Michigan University. Ursula also has completed Master of Science coursework in Human Resources at Central Michigan University. Additionally, Ursula has received Executive Leadership Training Flight 31 from Inforum. Ursula has obtained several certifications including the SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from SHRM in 2019 and the SPHR Certification from HR Certification Institute - HRCI in 2000. In 2021, they obtained a Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business. In 2015, Ursula also achieved Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification.
