Steven Cash has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Steven is currently serving as the Fire Chief at the City of River Falls since 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Chippewa Valley Technical College and as a Fire Consultant at Envista Forensics, both in 2023.

From 2015 to 2022, Steven held various roles at the City of La Crosse Fire Department, including Assistant Chief, Division Chief, Captain, and Lieutenant. In these positions, they oversaw community risk management, managed a divisional budget, supervised fire investigators, inspectors, and safety educators.

Before joining the City of La Crosse Fire Department, Steven worked as an Adjunct Fire/EMS Instructor at Western Technical College and as an EMS Trainer, Engineer, and Firefighter/EMT at the City of La Crosse Fire Department. Steven also served as a Firefighter/EMT at the Village of Howard Fire Department.

Prior to their career in the fire service, Steven worked as a Lead Printing Press Operator at RR Donnelley Moore.

Steven Cash, IAAI-CFI, CFEI has a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Services Administration from Columbia Southern University, which they obtained between 2019 and 2021. Prior to that, they earned an Associate of Science degree in Fire Science/Fire-fighting from Fox Valley Technical College from 2000 to 2002, and a Technical Diploma in Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Basic) from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in 2001 and 2002.

In addition to their formal education, Steven Cash has obtained several certifications. Steven is a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI), having received this certification from the International Association of Arson Investigators in December 2020. Steven is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), obtaining this certification from the National Association of Fire Investigators in October 2020. Moreover, they are an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certified by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, completing this certification in June 2020. Lastly, they hold a Fire Detection, Prevention, and Suppression Inspector License issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services, which they obtained in June 2021.
