Dr. Marcelo Peredo

Dr. Marcelo Peredo has an extensive work experience in the field of information security and technology. Dr. Marcelo currently serves as the Chief Information Security Officer for the City of San José. Prior to this role, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at Coleman University in 2018. In 2017, they held the position of Chief Information Security Officer - San Diego at DXC Technology, where they were responsible for the strategic leadership of the County of San Diego's security program. Dr. Peredo's experience also includes serving as the Chief Information Security Officer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise in 2016 and HP in 2012. Dr. Marcelo has also worked as a Customer Program/Project Manager at HP, managing ISSO teams supporting a law enforcement agency's field offices and Enterprise Systems. Throughout their career, Dr. Peredo has held various IT and software engineering roles, including IT Associate at TEKsystems, IT Director at Dynamics Research Corporation and Kadix Systems, Software Engineer at Audia Digital, Inc, and Software Engineer at the American Federation of Teachers.

Dr. Marcelo Peredo has a strong educational background in the field of Information Technology. Dr. Marcelo obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer and Information Science from the University of Maryland in the period from 1990 to 1995. Later, they pursued a Masters degree in Computer Software Engineering at George Mason University from 2001 to 2002. Dr. Peredo completed their academic journey by earning a Doctor of Information Assurance from the University of Fairfax, specializing in Information Technology, between 2011 and 2017. Additionally, they hold various certifications related to information security and systems management from reputable institutions such as ISACA, EC-Council, University of Fairfax, and (ISC)².
