Managing Director Of Government Partnerships at City Year

Matt Schaffer has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations. Matt began their career in 2006 as a Writer/Researcher and Adjunct Professor at Polytechnic University. From 2007 to 2009, they worked as a Grant Writer at The Educational Alliance, Inc. In 2009, they joined City Year as a Development Manager and later held roles as Senior Manager, Grants; Director of Government and Foundation Relations; Director of Strategic Planning; Managing Director of Strategic Planning; and Managing Director, External Affairs. Since July 2022, they have been serving as the Managing Director of Government Partnerships at City Year. Matt has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service from 2016 to 2017.

Matt Schaffer completed their Bachelor's Degree, with High Honors, in Philosophy from the University of Virginia in the period from 2000 to 2002. Matt then pursued further education at Boston University from 2002 to 2006, working towards an ABD (All But Dissertation) in Philosophy/Logic. Prior to their time at the University of Virginia, Schaffer also studied Integrated Liberal Studies with a focus on Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1998 to 2000.
