Karen Distefano has extensive experience in education and international service. Currently serving as the International Student Coordinator and Language Instructor at Coffeyville Community College since August 2017, Karen also holds a position as an Adjunct Instructor teaching beginning Spanish. Karen's recent consultancy role with the Mission Volunteers Program of Global Ministries UMC involved developing volunteer placement sites and creating social media content. As the South Central Jurisdiction UMVIM and Disaster Response Director for the United Methodist Church, Karen provided support to conference coordinators. Previous roles include Mission Interpreter for Encounter With Christ in Latin America and the Caribbean and Sales Director for Keepsake Candles. Karen's educational background includes a Master of Education in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language from Pittsburg State University, an MA in Spanish Literature from Arizona State University, and a BS in Spanish Language and Literature from Oklahoma State University.
