Dmitrijs Rutko

Dmitrijs Rutko, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Dmitrijs is currently employed at Cognite as a Principal Software Engineer, Tech Lead, where they are responsible for building industrial search and leading a technical area across multiple functional teams. Prior to this, they served as the Site Lead for Cognite Estonia and as a Principal Software Engineer, enabling digital transformation in heavy-asset industries.

Before joining Cognite, Dmitrijs worked as a Software Architect at Dashbird, where they built real-time cloud serverless monitoring and oversaw the scaling up of architecture and product development. Dmitrijs also has experience at Twilio Inc., where they held positions as a Staff Software Engineer and a Senior Software Engineer, contributing to the core Messaging group and working on cross-team architecture and design.

Dmitrijs has also worked at the Skype Division of Microsoft as a Senior Software Development Engineer, specializing in real-time media transport and network optimization. In addition, they have previous experience at Skype itself, C.T.Co, ISS International, and Computer Hardware Design (CHD) in various software development roles.

Throughout their career, Dmitrijs has demonstrated expertise in designing and developing complex systems, leading teams, and enabling the digital transformation of industries through innovative technology solutions.

Dmitrijs Rutko, PhD, obtained their Ph.D. in Computer Science from Latvijas Universitate, where they studied from 2008 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed their Master's degree in Computer Science from the same university, from 2003 to 2005. Dmitrijs also holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Latvijas Universitate, which they earned from 1999 to 2003. In addition to their formal education, Dmitrijs has completed programming courses in "Progmeistars" from 1997 to 1999. Dmitrijs also has several certifications, including being a Certified ScrumMaster® from Scrum Alliance since 2013, a certified MCTS Microsoft .NET Framework - Web-based Client Development from Microsoft since 2011, a certified MCTS Microsoft .NET Framework - Application Development Foundation from Microsoft since 2010, and a certified SCJP 1.5 - Sun Certified Java Programmer from Sun Microsystems since 2008.
