Michael Dax Garner

Chief Technology Officer at Cognitive Space

Michael Dax Garner has over 10 years of experience in the aerospace industry. In 2008, they began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin. In 2010, they joined Odyssey Space Research, LLC as an Aerospace Engineer, where they were responsible for Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Flight Software (FSW) design, development and implementation. In 2016, they joined Firefly Space Systems as a GNC Engineer, where they acted as the navigation lead for the GNC team designing a pressure-fed rocket capable of delivering 400 kg to low earth orbit. Michael Dax also designed a rocket navigation system to meet high orbital-insertion accuracy requirements with low-cost sensor hardware and was the lead integrator and developer for the high-fidelity, six-degrees-of-freedom simulation. In 2018, they joined Lockheed Martin as a Software Engineer Stf, CPE Delegate and Software Engineer. Michael Dax currently works at Cognitive Space as the VP of Engineering and Head of Aerospace.

Michael Dax Garner obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin between 2004 and 2008. Michael Dax then went on to obtain a Master of Science (M.S.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin between 2008 and 2009. In addition, Garner has obtained several certifications from Coursera, including Neural Networks and Deep Learning (2020), Applied Machine Learning in Python (2017), Applied Plotting, Charting & Data Representation in Python (2017), and Introduction to Data Science in Python (2017).
