Matthias Gallé

Matthias Gallé has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning from 2004 to the present. Matthias currently holds the position of Manager, Machine Learning at Cohere, starting in September 2022. Prior to that, they worked at NAVER LABS Europe from 2017 to 2022, where they served as the Head of AI For Our Digital World from September 2020 to September 2022, and as a Team Leader & Senior Scientist from August 2017 to September 2020.

Before joining NAVER LABS Europe, Matthias worked at Xerox Research Centre Europe from 2011 to 2017, where they held the position of Manager & Senior Scientist from December 2014 to July 2017, and as a Research Scientist from January 2011 to November 2014. Matthias also has experience with INRIA, where they worked as a PhD student from November 2007 to December 2010, and with INRIA, where they completed an internship from May 2007 to October 2007.

In addition, Matthias worked as a Teacher Assistant at Université de Rennes 1 from February 2009 to June 2010, and at INSA Rennes and École nationale de la statistique et de l'analyse de l'information from October 2008 to June 2009. Matthias also served as a Teacher Assistant at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba from March 2004 to May 2007.

Before their academic and research roles, Matthias worked as a Junior Developer at Fundación Instituto Tecnológico Córdoba from 2005 to 2006, and as a Junior Programmer at Martinez Gavier in 2004. It is worth noting that Fundación Instituto Tecnológico Córdoba received funding from Intel for the development of Java packages for Harmony, an Apache project for a free licensed implementation of Java. Matthias was involved in working on Java during their time there.

Matthias Gallé obtained a Licenciado degree in computer science from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Matthias then pursued a PhD in bioinformatics at the Université de Rennes I, which they completed in 2010. Additionally, they had a brief period of study in computer science at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas in 2006. Prior to these higher education experiences, Matthias attended Juana Micono de Giardino school, although the details of their field of study and duration of enrollment are unknown.
