Courtney Murphy

President, Markets at Commonwealth Care Alliance

As president of markets, Courtney leads CCA’s market performance and growth, including product expansion and strategic partnerships. Courtney is responsible for delivering on growth objectives across the nation by extending the CCA mission to improve the health and well-being of people with significant needs.

Courtney has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare policy, strategy, and operations, first joining CCA as chief operating officer in 2016. In that role, she matured health plan operations and IT strategy, growing membership 70% over a five-year period. During that same period, revenue (CAGR) increased by 19% and net income (CAGR) by 7%. Courtney also spearheaded CCA’s first expansion beyond Massachusetts and oversaw the launch of the organization’s Medicare Advantage plans.

Prior to joining CCA, Courtney served as senior vice president of operations strategy at Beacon Health Options, where she was the corporate executive responsible for post-acquisition integration and led the development of high-performing, national operating models. Additionally, she presided over new market implementations during a period of significant national growth. Earlier, she was chief of staff in the Executive Office of Health and Human Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, serving alongside then-Governor Mitt Romney’s chief of healthcare reform.

Courtney received her undergraduate degree from Merrimack College and earned an MBA from Boston University.
