German Villalba, PhD obtained their Bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes in the years 1997 to 2001. German then pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science from the same institution, completing it from 2002 to 2004. Villalba continued their education at the University of Pittsburgh, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Hydrology and Water Resources Science. German completed their PhD in 2010 and later obtained another PhD in the same field from 2010 to 2014 from the University of Pittsburgh as well. In addition to their formal education, Villalba has obtained certifications in Machine Learning from Coursera in July 2013 and as a Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition 5.0 from Sun Microsystems in April 2008.
