Denise became a passionate advocate for higher education when she found her own college experience transformational. Attending American University, in Washington DC she received her bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Environmental Policy, while in attendance she found herself very active in numerous co-curricular activities, including student government, campus activities, residential life and campus conduct. She has also spent several years working on issues of access & opportunity and social justice education. So drawn to the out of classroom experience, she eventually found herself drawn to the field of Student Affairs and she received her master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education and Academic Advising from the University of Denver. Prior to her work with DSF, Denise has worked for numerous colleges, including Georgetown, Colorado Western, Vanderbilt and Johnson & Wales University’s working in all facets of the student experience including student conduct, academic advising, financial aid, residential life, orientation, and dean of student affairs. Now working with high school students as a TRIO College Advisor in Montbello, Denise helps with post-secondary and college readiness, as well as college counseling and admissions.
