Manager, Manufacturing Engineering at Detect

Ben Russell has worked in the engineering field since 2012. Ben started their career at Boston Scientific as a Peripheral Interventions R&D Co-op, where they designed, prototyped and released various fixtures for testing, developed and modified test methods for next-generation drainage catheter, and conducted GR&R study testing for product specification. In 2013, they worked as a ME Design Co-op at Hydroid Inc., where they utilized SolidWorks in the development of new designs and components for Manufacturing Tools and Supplies, investigated tolerance analysis on parts, evaluated and improved part and assembly design through ECN process, developed and modified process sheets for ease of manufacturing, and supported field tech engineers during sea trials on customer vehicles. In 2014, Ben worked as a Mechanical Engineering Co-op at Boston Device Development, where they collaborated with senior level engineers on projects ranging from medical devices to robotic automation systems from the ideation/brainstorming stage through mechanical design and release. From 2015 to 2021, Ben worked at Starry, Inc. as a Senior Manufacturing Product Design Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, and Mechanical Engineer II. During their time at Starry, they were responsible for mechanical development of several outdoor mm-wave radios for wireless internet. Currently, Ben is the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering at Detect.

Ben Russell obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University between 2010 and 2015. Ben then went on to pursue an M.S. Advanced Manufacturing & Design in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2020. Ben also obtained a certification in MS, Advanced Manufacturing and Design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in September 2020.
