Chakriya Bowman, PhD MIEAust has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Beginning in 2013, Chakriya worked for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as a Counsellor Economics, managing economic diplomacy and development initiatives. Chakriya collaborated with the government of Papua New Guinea's economic agencies, multilateral partners, and development initiatives to promote women's economic empowerment and SMEs. Chakriya also held the positions of Director, Pacific Economic Growth Section and Director, Analytic Unit during their tenure.

In 2020, Chakriya served as the Chief Programs Officer for PNG SDP, where they played a key role in program management. Additionally, they worked for Sapience Ltd. PNG as a Director and Senior Consultant, providing development and project management services to government and private organizations. Chakriya also worked on various projects, including the establishment of the PNG Labour Mobility Unit and providing support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the World Bank.

Chakriya joined the DevTech Systems, Inc. in 2022 as a Project Director, leading a Public Finance Management project for USAID. This project focuses on promoting accountability and effective financial management across multiple Pacific island countries. Chakriya also worked as the Deputy Team Leader for Eurosupport (Fineurop) and served as a Labour Mobility Consultant for Santos / Oil Search Foundation.

Chakriya has contributed their expertise to several organizations as well. Chakriya worked as an Entrepreneurship Stakeholder Engagement Consultant for the World Bank Group, assisting in stakeholder engagement initiatives. Additionally, they served as a Women's Business and Boards Mentor for the PNG Business Coalition for Women, providing mentoring to senior women in public and private sectors in Papua New Guinea. Chakriya also worked as a Market Systems Consultant for the Market Development Facility (MDF), focusing on strategy and market systems in various industries, including livestock, kava, coconut oil, inland fisheries, and labour mobility.

In their role as an Associate Director at Tetra Tech International Development, Chakriya played a key role in developing strategies and proposals for economic and development initiatives in the Pacific Islands, South-East Asia, and PNG. Chakriya also served as the Interim Team Leader for Incentive Fund 4, successfully resolving outstanding issues and preparing the team for a smooth transition.

Chakriya Bowman, PhD MIEAust has an extensive education history. Chakriya completed their Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering at the University of South Australia. Chakriya then pursued further education at The Australian National University, where they obtained a Graduate Diploma in Finance in 2000. Subsequently, they completed their PhD in Finance from the same institution between 2000 and 2005.
