Matthew Aghai

Matthew Aghai has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of forestry and biological research. Matthew currently holds the position of VP, Research and Development at Mast Reforestation, where they have been since April 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Senior Director of Biological Research and Development at the same company from January 2018 to April 2022.

In addition to their role at Mast Reforestation, Matthew has also worked as the General Manager at Cal Forest Nurseries since October 2022. Before that, they held the positions of Advisor and General Manager at Silvaseed Company from March 2021 to April 2023.

Matthew's earlier career includes positions as a Consultant/Co-founder at Verdant Consulting Group, LLC from 2017 to 2019, a Research Associate at the Center for Sustainable Forestry at Pack Forest from June 2013 to March 2018, a Course Instructor/Teaching Assistant at the University of Washington from 2015 to 2018, a Research Scientist at the University of Idaho from January 2011 to June 2013, and an Apprentice to Operations at the Center for Forest Nursery and Seedling Research from January 2009 to December 2010.

Throughout their career, Matthew has gained expertise in research and development, biological research, general management, and consulting in the field of sustainable forestry and restoration of forests and rangelands.

Matthew Aghai has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Wildlife and Forest Management from Purdue University. Matthew also holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Forest Management/Forest Resources Management from the University of Idaho. Currently, Matthew is a PhD Candidate at the University of Washington, specializing in Applied Forest Ecology.
