Henk Aalten has over 30 years of work experience in the field of Regulatory Affairs. Henk started their career as a PhD student at the University of Amsterdam in 1984 and worked there until 1989. In 1989, they joined DSM as the Regulatory Aff. Head for the Europe region, a role they held for over 30 years until their departure in 2023. During their time at DSM, they also served as the Head of Regulatory Affairs from 2003 to 2006. After leaving DSM, Henk Aalten joined dsm-firmenich as the Group Regulatory Affairs - Lead Strategic Projects, a position they currently hold.

Henk Aalten has a diverse education history. Henk started their academic journey with an atheneum diplom with honours from Casimir College in 1978. Henk then went on to attain a Master's degree in Chemistry, with a minor in Economics, from the University of Amsterdam between 1978 and 1983. Building on this foundation, Henk pursued their passion for Chemistry by completing a PhD program at the University of Amsterdam from 1983 to 1988. Later, they expanded their skillset by pursuing an MBA degree at Nyenrode Business University from 1993 to 1995.
