Kristina Schoen, PhD, has a diverse work experience primarily focused on language education and pedagogy. Kristina is currently working at Duolingo as a Curriculum Designer, where they collaborate on creating engaging content and designing assessment tasks for German language learning. Before joining Duolingo, they were an Assistant Professor of Instruction at The University of Texas at Austin from 2020 to 2022. Additionally, they worked as a Lead Instructor at The Unconventional from 2019 to 2020. Kristina also has a significant background in teaching Germanic Studies, having held multiple roles at The University of Texas at Austin from 2013 to 2018, including Instructor of Record, Assistant to the Program Coordinator, Section Head, and Peer Mentor. Kristina began their teaching career as an Instructor of Record at Kansas State University from 2011 to 2013.

Kristina Schoen, PhD began their education at Kansas State University in 2007, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Studies. Kristina completed their undergraduate studies in 2011.

Following their Bachelor's degree, Schoen continued their education at Kansas State University from 2011 to 2013, during which they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics with a focus on German.

In 2013, Schoen enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin, where they pursued and successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Applied Linguistics, specializing in the German language. Kristina concluded their doctoral studies in 2019.
