Carmel Ward

Carmel Ward is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in early childhood education and human rights. Currently serving as the Research and Evaluation Manager at Early Childhood Ireland since March 2023, Carmel previously completed a PhD at Queen's University Belfast while working as a PhD Candidate from October 2018 to September 2023. Carmel facilitated the "Embedding Child Rights in Teaching and Learning" course for primary teachers at UNICEF Ireland during the summer of 2022 and contributed to the Children's Human Rights Project at Children's Parliament from March 2021 to April 2022. Prior to these roles, Carmel was the Principal at Greenhills Academy from August 2017 to April 2021 and served as a Rights Respecting Schools Assessor in late 2016. Carmel's career began as the Head Teacher at Bloomsbury Nursery School and Children's Centre, where a tenure lasted nearly a decade from September 2006 to April 2016.
