Fabio Cognigni

Fabio Cognigni has extensive work experience in the software engineering field. Fabio started their career as an intern at Unimatica S.p.A., where they worked on enhancing and maintaining web applications. Fabio also completed an experimental project for their final thesis, implementing a prototype for using XML Digital Signature with smart card readers.

After their internship, Fabio worked as a freelance software developer before joining Novell for an internship. Fabio then became a researcher in computer engineering at the University of Bologna, where they also served as an assistant professor, teaching a course on the fundamentals of computer science.

Fabio then transitioned into industry roles, working as a software engineer and consultant at KION. Fabio developed online services for didactic management and planning used by the University of Bologna's administrative staff, teachers, and students. Fabio also mentored the client's development team on agile development techniques and open-source technologies.

Following their time at KION, Fabio worked at Saks Fifth Avenue as an application developer, where they played a lead role in significant projects and troubleshooting production issues. Later, they took on the role of principal application developer at HBC Digital, leading agile cross-functional teams for saks.com and saksoff5th.com.

Fabio then worked as a freelance software engineer, consulting for HBC Digital on the e-commerce platform evolution for saks.com and saksoff5th.com. Fabio later joined HBC Digital again, this time as a principal lead engineer, responsible for building and operating backend services for e-commerce businesses owned by Hudson's Bay Company.

Currently, Fabio is employed at Earnest Analytics as a senior engineering lead. Fabio leads a geographically distributed team in delivering data updates to all EarnestResearch clients and automating client access provisioning operations.

Throughout their career, Fabio has consistently demonstrated leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.

Fabio Cognigni obtained their Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna. Fabio completed this degree program from 1998 to 2004. In addition, they also possess a certification in Functional Programming Principles in Scala, which they obtained from Coursera in November 2012.
