Shawn Hymel

Shawn Hymel began their career in 2004 as an Intern - Engineer at Delphi. Shawn then worked as a Computer Systems Engineer for the US Government from 2004-2013. In 2013, they joined Sparkfun Electronics as a Creative Engineer and Engineer, where they generated content in the form of videos, tutorials, and social media to teach electronics and showcase SparkFun products. In 2017, they founded Skal Risa, LLC. Currently, Shawn is a Senior DevRel Engineer at Edge Impulse, where they generate engaging content to inspire customers to adopt embedded machine learning and teaches engineers and developers how to employ machine learning to solve problems.

Shawn Hymel received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology between 2002 and 2006. Shawn then went on to receive a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech between 2009 and 2012. In October 2022, they obtained a Reinforcement Learning Specialization from Coursera.
