Peter Sherman

Peter Sherman has an extensive work experience in the field of education. Peter is currently working as the Senior Director of Quality and Impact at EL Education, Inc., where they support schools and districts in implementing learner-centered school models with a focus on equity and antiracism. Prior to this, Peter worked in education consulting for the K-12 Education System and Programming in 2020.

From 2018 to 2019, they were the Associate Director of Schools and the Founding School Director at DSST Public Schools, where they designed and established a new school in Aurora, Colorado, with a strong enrollment of 168 students. Peter also developed partnerships to create a unique health and bioscience program in collaboration with the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Before joining DSST Public Schools, Peter served as the Executive Director of School and District Performance at the Colorado Department of Education from 2012 to 2018. In this role, they led statewide efforts to design, fund, and implement school and district improvement initiatives, and played a key role in strategic planning and decision-making as part of the State Commissioner's cabinet.

Additionally, Peter has served on the board of The Odyssey School from 2010 to 2013. Peter started their career in education as a Principal at Denver Public Schools in 2003, where they successfully led the school through a turnaround process, implemented innovative programs, increased enrollment, and renovated facilities to support student needs.

Peter Sherman has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. Peter also holds a Certificate in Multi-cultural Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Additionally, they have a Masters of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Peter has also obtained a Colorado principal license from the University of Denver.
