Karthik Nithyanandam has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Karthik most recently served as the Director of Engineering at Element 16 Technologies since July 2019. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Consultant - Thermal Systems in their own consulting firm from April 2019 to June 2019. Karthik also worked as a Computational Thermal Systems Engineer at Axiom Exergy from October 2017 to March 2019. Before that, they were a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles from March 2015 to October 2017, where they worked on various projects related to thermal energy storage and concentrated solar power systems. Karthik also gained experience as a Postdoctoral Associate at Virginia Tech from August 2013 to February 2015, working on projects involving cancer treatment and high temperature thermal storage systems. Karthik began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech from May 2009 to May 2013, focusing on investigating latent thermal energy storage systems for concentrated solar power.
Karthik Nithyanandam pursued their Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy, which they completed between the years 2004 and 2008. Following this, they went on to attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering.
