Marcello Balduccini

Senior Researcher at Elemental Cognition

Marcello Balduccini is a Senior Researcher at Elemental Cognition. Marcello has also served as an Assistant Research Professor at Drexel University, a Principal Research Scientist at Eastman Kodak, and a Post Doc & Lecturer at Texas Tech University.

Marcello’s research interests include declarative languages, answer set programming, constraint programming, automated planning and scheduling, knowledge representation and reasoning, and general AI. Marcello has applied their research to the development of various automated workflow applications for commercial printing and automated planning and diagnostic tools for use by NASA. Marcello has also developed deep reasoning tools for use by the national security and intelligence community.

Marcello Balduccini received their High School Diploma from Liceo Scientifico. Marcello then went on to receive their Laurea in Computer Science from Università degli Studi di Milano. Finally, they received their Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas Tech University.

Marcello Balduccini reports to David Nachman, Head of Applications Research, Senior Software Engineer. They are on a team with Jennifer Chu-Carroll - Research Fellow, Andy Beck - Senior Research Scientist, Knowledge Representation & Reasoning, and John Jantos - Senior Research Engineer.
