Director, IPLC And Stakeholder Engagement at Emergent

Carol Burga has a diverse range of work experience. Carol is currently the Director of IPLC and Stakeholder Engagement at Emergent, a position they started in March 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Graduate Research Fellow and Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from August 2020 to May 2021. In 2019, they served as a Head Teaching Assistant at the same university. Carol also worked as a Project Coordinator at Shinai, a non-profit organization, from July 2006 to April 2010. Finally, Carol has teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant and Instructor at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru from an unspecified date to 2010.

Carol Burga began their education in 2002 at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Geography and Environment in 2005. Carol then pursued further studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Geography from 2011 to 2013. Continuing their academic journey, Carol is currently a PhD Candidate in Geography at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they started in 2014 and is expected to complete in 2019.
