Kaifu Gao

Kaifu Gao is an AI/ML Senior Scientist at Ensem Therapeutics since August 2023. Previously, Kaifu served as a Senior Machine Learning Drug Discovery Scientist at BAKX Therapeutics from April 2022 to June 2023, focusing on generative models for drug-like compounds and deep learning/machine learning applications in drug discovery. Prior experience includes a role as a Research Associate at Michigan State University (September 2018 - March 2022) where contributions involved deep learning and generative models in drug design, along with expertise in biophysics and chemistry. Kaifu held the position of Associate Professor at Central China Normal University from December 2015 to August 2018, specializing in computational biophysics and chemistry. Earlier academic experience includes a postdoctoral research role at UC San Diego (November 2013 - October 2015) concentrating on computational biochemistry and molecular dynamics simulation. Kaifu Gao earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physical Chemistry from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2008 - 2014) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Central China Normal University (2004 - 2008).
