Engineering Hydrologist at Environmental Science Associates

Maureen Downing-Kunz has extensive work experience in the field of hydrology and engineering. Maureen began their career in 2004 as a Civil Engineer at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and worked in that role until 2005.

In 2011, they returned to the USGS as a Hydrologist and held that position until 2014. During this time, they also served as a Research Hydrologist from 2014 to 2016, before being promoted to Project Lead and Research Hydrologist. Maureen held this position from 2016 to 2021.

Currently, they are the Engineering Hydrologist at Environmental Science Associates, a role they started in 2021.

Throughout their career, Maureen has gained expertise in various aspects of hydrology, including research, project management, and engineering.

Maureen Downing-Kunz pursued their education in the field of Civil & Environmental Engineering. From 1999 to 2004, they attended the University of Louisville, where they obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree. Later, from 2005 to 2011, Maureen attended the University of California, Berkeley, where they earned both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering. In addition to their academic achievements, Maureen obtained a certification as an Awake in the Wild Nature Meditation Teacher from the Awake in the Wild Teacher Training, in July 2022.
