Susanne Steggerda

Susanne Steggerda has extensive work experience in the field of biology and toxicology. Susanne is currently working at ESSA Pharma as an Executive Director, Biology & Toxicology. Prior to that, they served as a Director of Toxicology at Erasca, Inc. In addition, Susanne has a long history with Calithera Biosciences, where they held various positions including Director of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Associate Director of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Senior Scientist & Head of Pharmacology, and Senior Scientist of Biology. Susanne also has experience as a Scientist in the field of biology at Pharmacyclics, an AbbVie Company, where they contributed to research on small molecule inhibitors for oncology. Previously, they worked as a Scientist at Pharmacyclics and as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at UCSF. Susanne began their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Iowa, where they focused on investigating the effects of oxidative stress on gene transcription. Throughout their career, they have developed expertise in various techniques such as assay development, flow cytometry, and in vitro and in vivo experimentation. Susanne has also demonstrated their leadership abilities by mentoring and managing research associates.

Susanne Steggerda completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Grinnell College from 1990 to 1994. Susanne then pursued a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia from 1996 to 2001. Subsequently, from 2001 to 2006, Susanne Steggerda attended the University of California, San Francisco, where they focused on cell division, kinases, and mitosis.
