Brendan Walsh

Brendan Walsh's work experience starts with their role as Executive Vice President - Head of Property at Ethos Specialty Insurance Services LLC, which they joined in May 2021. In this position, they lead a team of Specialty E&S Property underwriters and is responsible for the financial performance of the book, premium planning, production, and expense management. Brendan also oversees the property underwriting and support teams and collaborates with other departments.

Prior to their current role, Brendan worked at AXIS Capital for over a decade. Brendan served as a Senior Vice President - E&S Property Underwriter from November 2016 to May 2021, where they managed and underwrote specialty property lines business and developed staff in complex risk business. Before that, they were a Senior Vice President - Risk Management Property Underwriter from July 2014 to November 2016, where they managed the AXIS Insurance Risk Management Property portfolio in the Midwest Region. Brendan also held the position of National Property Lines Manager - Australia / NZ from January 2010 to July 2014, where they developed and implemented a business plan to start up the corporate property book for AXIS in Australia.

From 2001 to 2010, Brendan worked at FM Global, starting as a Risk Engineer and then progressing to the roles of Account Manager (Corporate Property Underwriter) and Business Development Account Executive. During their tenure, they undertook risk surveys, developed new business, and worked with various insureds and brokers.

Before their time at FM Global, Brendan worked at Rockwell Automation from 1993 to 2001. Brendan served as a Sales (Application) Engineer, specializing in industrial automation and control systems, and as a Commissioning Engineer, working on projects in mining, power, manufacturing, and other industries throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Overall, Brendan has amassed extensive experience in the insurance and risk management industry, with a focus on property underwriting, team management, and business development.

Brendan Walsh has pursued a diverse education history spanning multiple fields. Starting in 1989, they attended North Sydney Tech where they focused on Electrical Trade, completing their studies in 1991. Following this, Brendan pursued a Diploma of Electrical Engineering at the same institution, North Sydney Tech, from 1991 to 1994.

In 1997, Brendan enrolled at the University of New England (AU) and earned a Bachelor of Engineering Technology, specializing in Electrical Engineering. Brendan completed their undergraduate studies in 2002.

Later, in 2007, Brendan pursued a degree in General Insurance from ANZIIF, which they completed in 2010. Additionally, they obtained the certification of Certified Insurance Professional CIP from ANZIIF in January 2007.
