Lawrence Waldman obtained their Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree in International Law and Legal Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, where they studied from 1992 to 1995. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Government and Law from Lafayette College, where they attended from 1988 to 1992.
